Independent Contractor – Software Tester (Remote).

Overview

20four7VA is seeking offshore independent contractors to deliver remote services to clients worldwide, with a primary focus on developed markets such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia.

Example: A strategic growth consulting firm is seeking a detail-oriented Virtual Assistant to support a short-term data cleanup project within HubSpot CRM. This role involves auditing and cleansing existing contact and company records to enhance data accuracy, segmentation, and future automation capabilities. The position is project-based with potential for additional work after the initial scope is completed.

The objective of each engagement is to assist the client in improving business efficiency, enhancing service delivery, or supporting operational functions through high-quality, task-specific services rendered by a qualified contractor.

Scope of Services

Contractors will be required to provide services that align with the following client tasks:

1. Manual Testing

      • Execute functional, system, integration, regression, smoke, and sanity testing
      • Validate application workflows against business and technical requirements
      • Perform cross-browser and cross-device testing for web applications
      • Conduct desktop application testing across supported environments

      2. Form Testing (Critical Requirement)

      • Test all types of forms including:
      • Login, registration, onboarding, contact, and transactional forms
      • Validate:
      • Field-level validations (required, optional, min/max, regex)
      • Error messages and inline validations
      • Data submission, storage, and retrieval
      • Edge cases, boundary values, and negative scenarios
      • Verify form behavior across browsers, devices, and screen resolutions
      • Test form security basics (input sanitization, injection prevention awareness)

      3. Automation Testing

      • Develop and maintain automation test scripts for repetitive and regression scenarios
      • Automate form workflows, UI validations, and API interactions
      • Integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines where applicable
      • Review and optimize automation coverage for stability and efficiency

      4. API & Backend Testing

      • Perform REST API testing using tools like Postman
      • Validate request/response payloads, status codes, and error handling
      • Support data validation across frontend and backend systems

      AI-Assisted & Modern QA Practices

      • Utilize AI-based testing tools for:
      • Test case generation and optimization
      • Self-healing automation scripts
      • Intelligent regression coverage
      • Assist in improving overall QA efficiency using smart testing techniques

      5. Defect Management & Collaboration

      • Log, track, and validate defects using standard defect management tools
      • Work closely with developers to reproduce, verify, and close issues
      • Participate in sprint reviews, QA sign-offs, and release readiness checks


      Each engagement is based on a defined scope of work and is governed by an independent contractor agreement. Services must be performed professionally, with adherence to any timelines, guidelines, and deliverables agreed upon in writing.


      Skills

      The Contractor must demonstrate proficiency in the following, depending on the Client’s requirements:

      1. Core QA Knowledge (Must Have)

        - Strong understanding of SDLC & STLC
        - Solid experience in manual web and desktop application testing
        - Proven expertise in form testing and validation scenarios

        2. Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments

        - Automation & Tools (Required / Strong Plus)
        - Automation tools/frameworks such as:
        - Selenium WebDriver
        - Cypress
        - Playwright

        3. Test frameworks:
        - TestNG / JUnit
        - API Testing: Postman (required)
        - Basic Git/version control knowledge

        4. Test & Defect Management Tools

      • JIRA
      • TestRail / Zephyr / Xray or similar
        5.
        Performance & Security (Good to Have)
      • Basic performance testing using JMeter or similar
      • Awareness of OWASP Top 10 and basic security testing concepts
        6.
        AI Testing Exposure (Good to Have)
      • Familiarity with AI-powered QA tools or automation enhancements
      • Understanding of predictive testing, test analytics, or self-healing automation
        7. Soft Skills
      • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
      • Excellent documentation and communication abilities
      • Ability to work independently in a remote setup
      • Comfortable collaborating with EST-based teams

      Work Schedule

      • Daily Working Time: 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM (Specify client’s local time zone).

      Note: The Company will make reasonable efforts to align the Assigned VA’s schedule with the Client’s preferred hours as set forth above. However, availability may vary based on time zones, capacity, and the contracted hours set in this SOW. Any changes must be mutually agreed to in writing through a revised SOW.

      Terms of Engagement

      • Contractors will operate under a Master Services Agreement and a Statement of Work
      • This is not an offer of employment; contractors are not employees of 20four7VA or any client
      • All compensation is processed through 20four7VA according to the terms of the engagement
